Happy Birthday Ben

It was my husband's 32nd birthday last Saturday and I made him a quick birthday card to go with his present. The chipboard is all Scrapmatts with some Studio Calico wood veneers. The words and the dog were actually extras I had left over from one of their classes I took at an expo. Before I was on their DT I would always sign up for a Scrapmatts class at any expo I went to because they are so generous with all the extra chipboard you get in the class kit.

Ben really does not enjoy celebrating his birthday for some reason. He even went to the extent of turning off his Facebook account for the day so none of his friends would get a reminder it was his birthday. Nevertheless, we had a lovely relaxed day together with his mum who is visiting for the week. Ben chose to spend 3 hours playing basketball with this friends in the morning, so Helen and I went and enjoyed a lovely morning tea together. We went to Social Eating House and Bar for dinner, which was a great experience. We don't eat out too much and this place is pretty new but already had some good reviews. It's got a tapas/sharing focus on the dishes which were all fine dining options with all those complicated little components.

Totally forgot to take any photos of the day at all, which Ben probably appreciated. Part of his present was tickets to the Five Flavours beer festival in March so maybe I'll take some photos then.

Awesome Day - Scrapmatts DT

The second theme for January for Scrapmatts was 'All About You', which had to include a photo of me. I've picked a photo from our trip to America at the start of last year. I love frogs and goofing around so thought this was good one to reflect me.

I've started to use more of that beautiful film strip I picked up from the recycling store but I'm still in two minds as to whether it works or not. I love the look of those tangled threads on other people's layouts but they just end up looking horrible when I try on mine. Does anyone have any tips for me?

I've only used two pieces of Scrapmatts chipboard here because I really wanted to let that beautiful frame shine. A very exciting development is that Scrapmatts now stocks a range of charms as well! I've used two of the beautiful filigree pieces on this LO. Scrapmatts pieces used: CB5006 Ornate Frame 04, CB1124 Hinges 01, CH004 Filigree Flower #2, CH010 Filigree Flower #5.

Notice the flair buttons used with the filigree? I may have gone slightly flair crazy in the space between Christmas and New Years and ordered a 'few' from some different stores. You will probably be seeing them popping up on my layouts a lot more in the near future. :)

I used the Scrapfriends January sketch challenge for this LO.

Baby Shower - Scrapmatts DT

It looks like my plan of scrapbooking more this year has not gotten off to a great start given my first upload for the year is taking place on the 16th. I have however managed to create two new layouts for the January Scrapmatts DT work. Our first theme was 'New Beginings'. I've chosen to scrap about my friend's baby shower prior to the birth of her son. It was a fun afternoon and the first baby shower I had ever been to.

Keeping in line with my habit of scrapping events very much out of chronological order, this even occurred back in June 2012. I have already scrapped quite a few pages of her beautiful baby, who has already turned one!

I have used a mixture of Scrapmatts chipboard here including CB3007 Tags 03, CB1141 Tea Set 01 and CB4060 Ornate Frames 17.

Scrapmatts is sponsoring Stuck?! Sketches this month, so I thought I'd incorporate their sketch into my piece. It's been quite a while since I've played along over there. Come and join me if you want a chance to win some great Scrapmatts pieces. As you can see, I've rotated it 90 degrees to better suit my photos.

Frosted Designs is also sponsoring over at Stuck?! so you can kill two birds with one stone if you include some paint/ink/mists in your LO. I have some paint applied through a stencil in the background which you can see in the close ups.
